CHAMPAGNE – Three scooters collectively worth nearly $3,000 have been stolen on the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus in the last week.

According to University of Illinois Police, the scooters range in value from $330 to $2,000 each and occurred at various locations on campus since Tuesday.

Two of the thefts occurred Thursday at the same location outside the Natural History Building at 1301 W. Green St.  All but one of the scooters was left at the scene at the time, unsecured.

“Please keep transportation items locked at all times and report any suspicious activity you might have witnessed.” University of Illinois Police said Friday.

An unusual number of bike thefts have also been reported since the start of the semester.  Anyone with info on the thefts is asked to contact University of Illinois Police Department at 217-351-4545.
