Semi Crash early Tuesday injures Driver on I-80/94

LOWELL – A semi-driver is in serious condition this morning after running into a stopped FedEx truck on Interstate 80/94 near Ripley Street.

According to Indiana State Police, it happened just after 2 am this morning when the Fedex double tractor trailer semi had stopped when a second semi rear-ended the truck. 

The driver of the second semi was later airlifted to University of Chicago Hospital.

Debris and fuel covered all lanes for hours as cleanup began.
