Teen steals newly purchased vehicle, crashes it into Kankakee building

KANKAKEE – An unnamed juvenile went for a rough joyride in Kankakee Tuesday after reportedly stealing a car from a gas station while it was running.

According to reports, it happened early Tuesday morning after a man who had recently purchased the vehicle left it running while entering a gas station on West Court Street.

The teen reportedly hopped in and soon after lead police on a chase that ended with the teen crashing into a building in the 500 block of South Schuyler Avenue in Kankakee.

Charges have yet to be reported in the incident.
