Man arrested on Attempted First Degree Murder charge after reportedly shooting at Manhattan woman on I-57

MANHATTAN – A Manhattan woman is recovering this week after she found herself being fired on while driving down Interstate 57 near 147th Street last Friday.

According to Illinois State Police reports, it happened at 11:20 pm last Friday when the 42-year-old woman was driving on I-57 and found her vehicle under attack. The woman flagged down a nearby Illinois State Police officer after the incident to report it.

The unnamed woman was uninjured during the reported attack.

An investigation later found the incident was tied to a domestic disturbance.

Police located the suspected attacker identified by the victim, 42-year-old Kevin M. Albrecht of Blue Island, Saturday afternoon in near 159th Street in Tinley Park. Albrecht fled on foot but was arrested by multiple responding agencies, including a SWAT team that arrived to establish a perimeter in the area.

Albrecht has been charged with one count of Attempted Murder and one count of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm. Albrecht is now in custody at the Cook County Jail held on a bond set at $250,000.
