WATSEKA – Teens from as far away as Frankfort were arrested for underage drinking on Department of Natural Resources (DNR) land in Gilman Saturday.

According to Iroquois County Sheriff’s police, deputies arrested teens from Frankfort, Bradley, and Rantoul that were headed to the spot.

The crackdown comes after a number of complaints had been received by their office.  A press release stated drinking parties have been taking place in more rural parts of the county with organizers using GPS pin drops on social media platforms to advertise the events.

Another gathering was reported in Milford that saw over 150 people in attendance from as far as 35 miles away just two weeks ago.

Sheriff’s Police are asking residents in those rural areas who come across such parties to call their office at 815-432-4918.
