Woman dies after struck by vehicle in Joliet

JOLIET – A woman has died after being struck by a vehicle in Joliet Thursday morning.

According to Joliet police, it happened just before 7 am when Officers responded to a traffic crash at West Jefferson Street near Hammes Avenue involving a pedestrian. Officers first on the scene reported a critically injured woman in the roadway that had appeared to been struck by a vehicle.

The vehicle and driver remained on the scene of the incident.

The woman was identified Thursday evening by the Will County Coroner’s Office as Maria K. Dinardo, a 55 year old female resident of Joliet. Dinardo was pronounced dead shortly after arriving in the AMITA St. Joesph ER Thursday morning.

An investigation of the incident is now ongoing by Joliet police.
