Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers announced Thursday a statewide mask mandate due to a recent spike in coronavirus cases. Evers has already faced issues in trying to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in Wisconsin. Republican legislative leaders who oppose a “safer at home” order issued by the Governor successfully sued to kill it.
Evers says the order applies to anyone age 5 and up beginning Saturday for all enclosed spaces except a person’s home. Anyone who violates the Wisconsin order is subject to a $200 fine. The current order runs through Sept. 28th.
Illinois began a mask mandate for residents of the state on May 1st.
