BOURBONNAIS – For the second time since Monday, an individual within the Bourbonnais Elementary School District (BESD) has tested positive for COVID-19.

School officials were alerted to the news just after 9 am on Thursday.

“This case clearly appears to not have originated from the school setting and is a good reminder for everyone to closely monitor your child’s health status and/or proximity to known positive cases.” BESD Superintendent Dr. Adam Ehrman said Thursday in a letter to parents. “At this time, we believe this particular case requires only three individuals to be defined as “close contacts” due to the details surroundings the timing of the situation and the individuals proximity to others.”

The school reports sanitation and deep cleaning will be or has already been done in the areas occupied by the individual. Thursday marked the 6th day of in-person instruction at Bourbonnais Elementary School District #53.

Kankakee County has been placed on multiple school determination of community spread warning lists since Wednesday.
