Illinois updates Manteno Veterans Home numbers, 69 infected, 10 dead Tuesday

Coming off a day when Veterans are saluted, it was announced by the Illinois Department of Public Health Tuesday there are now ten residents of the Manteno Veterans Home have now died after testing positive for COVID-19.

At least 69 have been infected now at the Manteno Veterans Home, including 22 staff and 47 residents.

The update on the Veterans Home was attached to today’s IDPH COVID-19 numbers. Other Veterans homes across the state have tested positive, including 5 positive tests at Anna and one positive test at LaSalle.

Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) today announced 1,178 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 39 additional deaths.

IDPH Director Dr. Ezike made it a point to stress numbers over the past weekend are not accurate as many Health Departments, including the Kankakee and Will County Health Departments, were closed this past weekend and did not report data.

IDPH reports 113,195 cases now, including 4,923 deaths, in 100 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years.  Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 17,230 specimens for a total of 786,794.
