An Elgin Illinois hospital that served a major role in the 2011 film “Contagion” is set to reopen its doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Illinois officials announced yesterday when Gov. J.B. Pritzker said Sherman Hospital would be one of the sites deemed acceptable by Army Corps Engineers to reopen in anticipation of a surge of COVID-19 cases.

The 2011 film has recently seen an increase in viewers due to the Pandemic, ranking among the top streamed films on NETFLIX. It was filmed at Sherman Hospital in 2010.
