Infant death from COVID-19 in Illinois Investigation update

State of Illinois Health Officials updated the status of the ongoing investigation into the death of an infant in Illinois due to COVID-19 over the weekend.

“Health officials are talking with pedestrians are talking with the family are talking with the hospital examiner, to discuss the entire medical history all the way to acquiring all of the immunizations dates.  The CDC is on board and is partnering with the teams as we try to provide further information.  Please understand that this investigation is ongoing, and I thank everyone for their patients as these details do take time.” said IDPH Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike.

There is no anticipated date to when the case will be closed.
