COVID-19: Illinois crosses 40k total cases, announcing 2,119 new cases Saturday

Illinois Department of Public Health announced an additional 2,119 new COVID-19 cases this afternoon, bringing State of Illinois totals to 41,777 total cases.  Cases now stretch across 96 of Illinois 102 counties.

In addition, a total of 80 new deaths were announced on Saturday, bringing death totals for the State to 1,874 total deaths.

New deaths included two Kankakee County residents, including a female in her 80s and a female in her 90s, and six Will County residents, including a woman in her 60s, a man in his 60s, a man in his 70s, a woman in her 80s, and two men in their 80s.

As of Saturday afternoon, 4,699 people in the State had been hospitalized for COVID-19, with 1,244 of those in ICU beds.  Over half of those in the ICU, 763, were on ventilators Saturday.
