Kankakee County falls to 3.3 new cases a day in June, under 500 active

Kankakee County Health Department officials announced this afternoon the county has fallen under 500 active cases of COVID-19.  The count currently stands at 499.  In the past week, 102 cases have dropped off the active case count.

Since last Friday night, 10 new cases of COVID-19 have been announced in the County.  The average new cases are down to 3.3 a day since June 1st.

Since case filings began in March, the county has seen 1,220 cases of COVID-19.  On Wednesday, three new cases were announced by the county, including one case less than 13 years old.

One new death was announced today, bringing total deaths to 60.

Health experts continue to warn due to recent rallies and marches seen across the Country, a rise in COVID-19 cases could be forthcoming.  Anyone who’s attended a rally in the last week is advised by experts to self-quarantine for 14 days as a precautionary measure.   

Case numbers per zip have been updated for the first time since last Wednesday.  Moving forward, Country Herald will only update cases via zip to date on a weekly basis.

Since last Wednesday, cases have increased by zip according to Illinois Department of Health officials in Manteno (+10), Bourbonnais (+18), Bradley (+8), Momence (+3), Pembroke (+1), St. Anne (+2), and Kankakee (+46).  There are currently 172 case file zip codes unaccounted for by IDPH as of today.
