Oxford scientists call Dexamethasone ‘life-saving COVID-19 drug’ for patients on vents

Scientists have found a cheap steroid called dexamethasone has been found to reduce death among those with COVID-19 by as much as 33%.

Researchers at the University of Oxford made the announcement after finding the drug reduce symptoms with patients with severe respiratory complications.

Scientists say the drug could help patients on ventilators but had little effect on those that did not need help breathing. Researchers estimate had the drug been used since day one in the UK alone, it might have saved as many as 5,000 lives.
