STATE RECORD: 4K COVID-19 cases in 24-hours, over 30,000 tested

Illinois Department of Public Health officials announced two record highs related to COVID-19 on Tuesday.  Both in number of positives and number of overall tested in a 24-hour span.

With over 30,000 tests completed in the past 24 hours, 4,014 new known cases of COVID-19 were announced Tuesday afternoon.  The last time testing got that close was last Friday when 20,671 people had bee tested.

There were also 144 new deaths announced Tuesday, bringing state death totals to 3,601.  That’s the second-highest daily total reported to date in Illinois.   There have now been over 83,000 confirmed cases in the State of Illinois since the pandemic began ranging in ages less than one to over 100 years old.
