A trampoline fire on Monday in Kankakee is being investigated by the City’s Fire Department.  No one was hurt in the fire.  It happened near South 7th Avenue in Kankakee.

There are any number or reasons someone might target such a device. Just last week, a 15-year-old boy in North Carolina was paralyzed from the chest down after trying to preform a stunt on one of the devices.

Between 2002 and 2011, more than a million people went to the E.R. due to trampoline related injuries. The Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics study estimated those injuries cost victims over $1 billion dollars.

Last March, a 3-year-old girl died when a Trampoline exploded and she was thrown some twenty feet in the air before landing on her face. Back in 2019, a boy in the U.K. was impaled by a metal spring that became embedded in his back.

Arson is suspected in the case.
