AURORA, Ill., Nov. 11, 2023 — The Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry, located at 1110 Jericho Rd., Aurora, is spearheading its 16th annual Holiday Food Drive until Nov. 22. This effort, starting Nov. 1, has garnered the support of about 40 local businesses in Aurora, Montgomery, and Naperville, aiding in the battle against hunger.

Customers can contribute at three grocery stores: Prisco’s Family Market in Aurora, Cermak Fresh Market in Aurora, and Food Market La Chiquita in Montgomery. The drive’s co-sponsors include Dolan and Murphy, Inc., FM 95.9 the River, Aurora Beacon News, and others.

Pantry executive director Shannon Cameron highlighted the pantry’s critical role, feeding 1,200 families weekly and recently assisting 440 children and their parents. Cameron expressed gratitude to local businesses for their participation and emphasized the community’s vital support for the pantry’s operation.

According to Cameron, donations are the sole lifeline of the pantry. This food drive is pivotal for ensuring that children and parents in need have meals during the holiday season. “Together, we can brighten the holidays for those who might otherwise have no celebration at all,” she said.

The Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry, established in 1981, is a key player in northern Illinois’s fight against hunger, offering nourishing food and access to resources. For more information, contact (630) 692-3062.
