Bourbonnais, IL – Olivet Nazarene University has secured a $10 million grant from the State of Illinois. This endowment places Olivet in the top ten recipients in a $400 million initiative aimed at revitalizing private academic institutions across the state.
According to the Illinois Board of Higher Education, the funds are earmarked for substantial campus enhancements that promise to foster equitable learning opportunities.
Other notable institutions receiving substantial grants include Lewis University with $15.4 million, Saint Xavier University with $8.4 million, and Wheaton College with $7.2 million. Topping the list, Northwestern University received the highest amount at approximately $48.9 million, underscoring the state’s commitment to educational excellence and infrastructure modernization.
The grants are part of the Independent Colleges Capital Investment Grant Program, designed to support construction, repair, and renovation projects. The program emphasizes equity, requiring recipients to present strategies for aiding historically underrepresented students.
With these grants, the IBHE aims not only to refurbish physical structures but also to pave the way for closing the enrollment and achievement gaps in Illinois’ diverse student population.
