Cicada-Themed Art Show Set to Hit Illinois State Fair This August

SPRINGFIELD, IL – The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) is set to host a cicada-themed art show during the Illinois State Fair, running from Aug. 8-18 in Conservation World.

Amid the excitement of a rare double cicada brood emergence in Illinois, IDNR invites artists of all ages to showcase their creative interpretations of these fascinating insects. The deadline for entries is Sunday, June 16, 2024. With categories for both youth and adults, the event promises a diverse array of artwork.

Selected finalists will display their pieces at the fair, where visitors can vote for their favorite. The People’s Choice winner will receive a prize from IDNR. For more details, visit the IDNR Division of Education website.
