PALOS HEIGHTS, IL — According to the Palos Heights Police Department, there has been a recent increase in incidents involving stolen and “washed” checks in the city.

The department strongly advises residents to hand-deliver their mail and checks directly to post office employees instead of using mailboxes at home. This precaution is recommended to prevent thefts from residential mailboxes, which have been targeted by thieves.

The police emphasize the importance of this measure to safeguard personal bank accounts and maintain financial security during the holiday season. Residents are urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
