AURORA, IL – Early on April 15th, 2024, Aurora Police were called to a residence on the 700 block of Charles Street due to a reported disturbance. A 911 caller informed authorities that a man inside the home was armed.
Upon police arrival, they heard a gunshot. A 43-year-old woman emerged from the home with a gunshot wound and was immediately attended to by officers and later transported by Aurora Fire Department paramedics to a local hospital, where she is listed in serious condition.
The suspect fled the scene but was later located by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office after Aurora Police circulated details of his vehicle. The confrontation ended in Wilmington, Will County, where the suspect fatally shot himself during a traffic stop.
The Will County Coroner’s Office is expected to release his identity after an autopsy scheduled for April 16th, 2024.The Aurora Police Department’s Investigations Bureau is actively investigating the incident, which they have identified as domestic in nature.
