Illinois Spring Turkey Season Opens: Hunters Urged to Wear Hunter Orange for Safety

Springfield, IL – As the turkey hunting season commences in Illinois, outdoor enthusiasts are reminded to don hunter orange apparel for safety. 

The U.S. Forest Service has announced that the season, which started on April 15th, will continue through May 16th. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources emphasizes the importance of visibility in the wilderness, advising both hunters and non-hunters to wear hunter orange. This includes vests, leashes, and bandanas for accompanying canines, ensuring everyone’s safety during the hunting period.
