BENSENVILLE, Ill. — A birthday celebration in Bensenville turned deadly earlier this month when Kevin Krenc, 31, allegedly shot a man over an altercation involving a stolen pair of shoes, according to DuPage County officials.

According to reports, an alleged theft by the victim, Victor Garcia, and subsequent feelings of ‘disrespect during the party’ on Church Road escalated tensions. Krenc reportedly shot Garcia five times in the garage after concealing a rifle there. The murder weapon was later discovered hidden by investigators in a vent in the basement.

Krenc, whose pre-trial release was denied by Judge George Ford, was taken into custody on Tuesday. Krenc’s arraignment is set for November 3rd.
