Grundy County, IL – A dangerous weapon was found inside a student’s backpack Tuesday. 

According to a letter from Superintendent Nancy D. Dillow of Mazon-Verona-Kinsman Elementary School, the discovery was made by a fellow student, who reported it to a teacher. The school’s prompt response led to the immediate confiscation of the weapon.

The incident, detailed in Dillow’s letter to parents, was handled swiftly with the involvement of school staff and the Mazon Police Department. The weapon was quickly removed from the school environment, ensuring the safety of students and staff.
