ILLINOIS — As the week unfolds, Illinoisans are advised to brace for potentially hazardous weather conditions on Tuesday. The National Weather Service has forecasted a challenging mix of rain and snow, primarily affecting the state on Tuesday. This weather event is expected to create slippery and treacherous roads, especially in areas near and north of Interstate 80. Motorists are urged to exercise caution during their commutes.

The week begins with a milder outlook, with Monday seeing a high of 41 degrees and light snow accumulations, mostly on grassy surfaces. However, the situation intensifies by Tuesday as temperatures hover around 40 degrees, fostering conditions ripe for a rain-snow mix. This combination, known for its potential to create slick road surfaces, requires heightened awareness from drivers.

Looking ahead, the weather is set to clear up mid-week with drier conditions prevailing. Temperatures are projected to rise steadily, reaching a pleasant high of 60 degrees by Friday. This marks a significant turnaround from the week’s early hazardous conditions, offering residents a more agreeable end to the week.
