Kane County Tragedy: Family Grieves as Man Killed in Montgomery House Fire Sunday Morning

MONTGOMERY, IL – A family is grieving following a blaze Sunday that left a man was dead in the 1800 block of Ness Way. 

According Montgomery Police, it began around 8:47 a.m. when officers responded to the scene, where they encountered a two-story residence engulfed in thick black smoke. Three family members inside narrowly escaped the flames, but they reported a man could still be trapped inside.

Despite the combined efforts of six regional fire protection districts, the man was later found deceased. Local authorities evacuated adjacent homes, ensuring no further casualties beyond some minor injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, with a joint statement from Montgomery’s police and fire chiefs expressing deep condolences to the victim’s family. The identity of the victim has yet to be released.
