Herscher, IL – Excitement buzzes in the air as Herscher CUSD No. 2 School District eagerly anticipates the delivery of the first two of their 25 electric school buses later this week.

The pioneering purchase was made possible by a generous $9.8 million grant from the Environmental Protection Act’s “Clean School Bus Program Grant.”

The district plans to integrate the new arrivals into regular school routes beginning immediately. In collaboration with Lion Electric and the forthcoming Johnson-Downs-constructed facility in Herscher, the district is set to receive the remaining 23 buses by Summer 2024.
