Kankakee County, IL – Several acres of cornfields became engulfed by flames early Tuesday afternoon.

According to reports it began around 1:45 PM when a brush fire began rapidly spreading across multiple acres of cornfields near the crossroads of N 8000W Rd & W 5000n Rd.

As high winds fanned the flames, emergency crews from the Limestone and Salina Fire Protection Districts, supported by MABAS 7, swiftly responded to the escalating situation.

Residents and nearby workers are urged to exercise extreme caution and steer clear of the affected area. Earlier in the day, a red flag warning had been announced due to the heightened wind conditions.
