Momence, IL – Bordertown Guns Inc. in Momence will close on June 12 after 12 years in operation.

Owners Doug and Staci Duncan made the announcement on social media Saturday afternoon citing the Illinois PICA ruling, economic challenges, and social media restrictions as key factors in their decision.

“With much consideration and regret, we are no longer able to weather the political storm in Illinois. With the current administrations in power, they have made it impossible for our business plan to work. We have made the painful decision to close our doors,” the Duncan’s said in a statement. “We have tried every avenue with many financial institutions and organizations to try to remain in the fight here in Illinois. We were met with the same answers. Guns are not a commodity that this state wants here.”

According to the statement, customers with consignments, gunsmithing, or archery work are advised to pick up their items before the closure date.
