Kankakee Shooting Leaves Teen in Critical Condition: Five Questioned, One Charged

KANKAKEE, IL – An 18-year-old was shot and is now in critical condition after a shooting on S. Wildwood Ave Saturday afternoon. 

According to Kankakee Police, officers arrived on the scene at 2:45 p.m. and found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds. Swift action by the Kankakee City Fire Department ensured the teen’s transfer to a hospital.

Following leads, the police pinpointed a suspect vehicle on S. Greenwood Ave. Investigations in a nearby house resulted in the detention of five individuals. Post-questioning, one among them has been charged and held at the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

The suspect, whose name has not yet been release, has been charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapon and Possession of Firearm by Felon.
