Pedestrian Killed in Early Morning Traffic Crash on Route 137 in Libertyville

Libertyville, IL – A fatal traffic incident occurred early Thursday morning in unincorporated Libertyville, resulting in the death of a pedestrian. 

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 3:20 a.m. at the intersection of Route 137 and Clover Drive. A 51-year-old Park City man was struck by a vehicle and suffered critical injuries. Despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced deceased at Advocate Condell Medical Center.

The involved vehicle, a 2016 Kia Rio driven by a 54-year-old Woodstock man, was traveling westbound on Route 137 when it collided with the pedestrian, who was in the traffic lane under unknown circumstances. The driver of the Kia, who remained unharmed, is cooperating with the authorities.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office is preparing for an autopsy of the victim. Meanwhile, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team continues to investigate the details of this tragic event.
