Ottawa, Illinois — Two individuals were arrested on December 4, 2023, following the discovery of drugs and firearms.
According to police reports Thomas J. Higgins, 45, of Ottawa, was apprehended during a traffic stop and subsequent search of a related residence in Marseilles, where authorities allegedly found around 18 grams of suspected cocaine and two firearms. Higgins faces multiple felony charges, including being an Armed Habitual Criminal.
Similarly, Brennen Lee Jorgenson, 27, of Marseilles, was arrested following a search warrant at his home. The raid reportedly uncovered substantial quantities of psilocin mushrooms, cannabis, THC products, and several illegal firearms, including a modified Glock pistol. Jorgenson is charged with various felonies, including the possession of a machine gun and the intent to deliver large quantities of cannabis and controlled substances. The total estimated street value of the narcotics seized is approximately $180,000.
Both are currently detained at the LaSalle County Jail, awaiting a detention hearing. Trident’s operation was supported by the LaSalle County States Attorney’s Office, Sheriff’s Department, and the Ottawa and Marseilles Police Departments. As per standard legal procedure, both suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
