Wayne County, IL – The aftermath of Thursday night’s severe weather has led to significant blockage on Route 45 in Wayne County, necessitating an urgent cleanup.
The storm, which was part of a significant weather system that triggered a warning from the National Weather Service in Paducah, brought intense wind gusts of up to 70 mph and caused considerable damage to structures and vegetation in the area.
In response to the damage, authorities closed a stretch of Route 45 near County Road 620N, as crews work to clear the scattered remnants of a large metal structure from the roadway.
The storm, which also affected Perry, Jefferson, and surrounding counties, is known to have caused widespread wind damage, though the National Weather Service has not confirmed any tornado touchdowns. Residents have been advised to use alternative routes and heed safety instructions while the cleanup is in progress.
