Will County, Illinois (December 1, 2023) – A father in Illinois has filed a wrongful death lawsuit in Will County against Joseph M. Czuba, the 71-year-old suspect in the brutal stabbing of his six-year-old son and the child’s mother in Plainfield Township.

The incident, which occurred on October 13th, has been linked to hate crime motivations, with authorities citing the family’s Muslim identity as a possible factor. The young boy, tragically stabbed 26 times with a military-style knife, succumbed to his injuries at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Joliet.

Czuba faces multiple charges, including First Degree Murder and Hate Crime. The lawsuit by the grieving father seeks to hold Czuba accountable for the devastating loss, highlighting the broader issue of hate crimes in communities. Czuba has since pleaded not guilty.
