JOLIET, IL – A traumatic home invasion in Bolingbrook, which unfolded in the presence of a 9-year-old girl, culminated in an 18-year prison sentence for 37-year-old Ivan Atilano.

Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow announced that Atilano, after a violent encounter involving his ex-girlfriend and a local resident, will face 11 years for Attempted Murder and 7 for Criminal Trespass, to be served consecutively.

The sentence comes after the September 2022 incident where Atilano assaulted Felix Lopez with a knife and pushed Tatiana Guzman, his ex-girlfriend, down stairs while her daughter watched in horror.

Atilano’s time already served in jail will be partly offset by a one-year contempt of court sentence, with an arson case still pending.
