Joliet, IL – The 43rd annual Law Enforcement Memorial Day will take place on Thursday, May 9, in Joliet, Illinois, commemorating the brave officers from Will County who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

Sponsored by the Police Chiefs Association of Will County, the event is set to begin with a Mass at St. Mary Magdalene Church at 10:30 a.m., followed by a solemn noon procession to the Memorial Wall at the old Will County Courthouse.

According to Tracy Chapman, President of the Association and Deputy Director of the Forest Preserve District of Will County, the memorial wall bears the names of 37 fallen heroes. These officers represented various departments including the Illinois Department of Corrections, Joliet Police Department, and Illinois State Police among others. “The sacrifices made by these individuals are deeply acknowledged,” Chapman stated. The public is encouraged to attend and pay their respects to these heroes and their families.
