Williamson County, IL – In a midday incident April 25th, a routine patrol turned urgent as Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies arrested James T. Inchcliff, a felon on pre-trial release, reportedly armed with a loaded firearm. The encounter occurred at the intersection of 18th Street and Stotlar Street in Herrin, where deputies initially spotted Inchcliff and Chelsea R. Phillips, who was quickly detained on an active warrant.
Inchcliff attracted the deputies’ attention by his suspicious behavior, walking in the middle of the road and allegedly attempting to hide in an abandoned house. Upon confrontation, Inchcliff reportedly failed to comply with deputies’ commands to keep his hands visible, eventually pulling out a loaded Ruger LCP .380 caliber handgun from his coat. The deputies managed to disarm Inchcliff without any shots being fired.
Facing charges including possession of a stolen firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm, Inchcliff was taken into custody along with Phillips. The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office is seeking additional information from the public, which can be anonymously submitted through the Sheriff’s App.
