Williamson County, IL – A school bus accident occurred on Tuesday in the rural area of Creal Springs, Williamson County.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened at 3:15 p.m. in the 13000 block of Sulpher Springs Road. The crash was reportedly caused by the bus driver suffering a medical episode, leading to a loss of control of the vehicle.

The bus, carrying five children, the driver, and an assistant, veered off the road, traveled through a ditch, and eventually struck a tree. The driver was promptly taken to a hospital for treatment. One child was also transported to the hospital as a precaution. The remaining children were safely returned to Adam’s School and reunited with their parents.

Sheriff Jeff Diederich acknowledged the combined efforts of law enforcement, EMS, Adam’s School Personnel, and Illinois Central School Bus Personnel at the scene. He expressed relief that there were no serious injuries.
