Los Angeles, CA – A multi-vehicle collision on Louise Avenue, south of Saticoy Street in Lake Balboa, ended tragically. The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that the incident involved a blue coupe and a white pickup truck. The force of the collision sent the pickup careening into a tree and then into the wall of a local restaurant, causing extensive damage.
LAFD teams were quick to respond, working diligently to rescue a woman trapped inside the coupe. She was transported to a regional trauma center where she remains in critical condition. The male driver of the pickup truck was less fortunate. Despite the swift action of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
No additional injuries were reported, a piece of fortunate news amid the destruction. Officials, including Public Information Officer Captain Erik Scott, detailed that the presence of the LAFD hazardous materials squad and public health officials was a standard precaution due to potential risks at the crash site.
The LAFD is currently leading a thorough investigation to determine the factors that led to the incident.
