20-Year-Old Arrested for Accidental Fatal Shooting in New Palestine, Indiana

New Palestine, IN – In a tragic incident on Eclipse Way, an 18-year-old male was fatally shot, leading to an arrest by the New Palestine Police Department. Officers found the victim suffering from a chest gunshot wound, and despite first aid efforts and medical attention, he was pronounced deceased at IU Health Methodist Hospital. 

Erick Wilkinson, 20, from Greenfield, has been arrested on preliminary charges of Involuntary Manslaughter and Criminal Recklessness with a deadly weapon, following what is described as an accidental shooting. Currently held at Hancock County Jail, Wilkinson awaits final charges from the Hancock County Prosecutor’s Office. 

The identity of the victim is withheld pending family notification, with further updates expected as the investigation continues.
