Fort Wayne, IN – The typically predictable adage “April showers bring May flowers” may bloom into a historic rainfall record for Fort Wayne.

The US National Weather Service Northern Indiana reports that the city is a mere 0.27 inches shy of its wettest April ever recorded. With 6.93 inches of precipitation already collected this month, today’s showers could tip the scales. Despite the looming weather record, residents can expect a mix of scattered showers and thunderstorms today, followed by a stretch of dry and sunny conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, the warm front that’s been embracing the area will persist, with highs soaring into the 70s, and a possible peak in the low 80s by Thursday. Another cold front, however, is on the horizon, likely to bring rain and storms late Thursday into Friday. Fort Wayne’s weather narrative continues to keep the community and climate enthusiasts on their toes, as everyone watches the rain gauge at Fort Wayne International Airport with bated breath.
