Lake County, IN – A severe multi-vehicle accident on I-65 northbound claimed one life and disrupted traffic for hours on Tuesday, April 24th.
According to Indiana State police reports the crash happened near the 257.7 mile-marker, just south of the I-80/94 ramp. State troopers say a Chevrolet HHR collided with a Hyundai Elantra while traveling in the right lane, failing to decelerate amidst slow-moving traffic. The collision forced the Elantra into the path of a Dodge Ram, which then struck the Hyundai on the driver’s side. The driver of the Elantra was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Hobart with traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead later.
The crash is still under active investigation by the authorities, with efforts focused on reconstructing the sequence of events leading up to the tragedy. The identity of the deceased will be released following confirmation by the Lake County Coroner’s Office and notification of next of kin.
