Indianapolis, IN – Former Super Bowl champion and Indianapolis Colts punter Hunter Smith has announced his candidacy for the Indiana House seat, currently held by Republican Rep. Donna Schaibley.

Smith, a Sherman, Texas native, now residing in Boone County, Indiana, had a distinguished 10-season career with the Colts, highlighted by a victory in Super Bowl XLI. Post-NFL, he focused on his regenerative farm business and music, leading the band Connersvine and The Hunter Smith Band. Smith, also a Notre Dame alumnus, aims to address issues such as adoption, low taxes, and environmental matters, drawing on his personal and professional experiences.

He is also an author, having published “The Jersey Effect: Beyond the World Championship” in 2012, discussing the lives of Super Bowl XLI Colt players. Smith’s diverse background in sports, music, farming, and writing brings a unique perspective to his political ambitions.
