Morgan County, IN – Heads up, everyone! There’s a tricky scam going around Morgan County. Scammers are calling people up, pretending to be “Sgt. Walker” from the Sheriff’s Office. They tell you that you’ve missed jury duty and now you owe money for a bond. The catch? They want you to go to a Kroger kiosk and pay there while staying on the phone with them.

The real Sheriff’s Office wants you to know there’s no Sgt. Walker working there, and they’d never ask you to handle a legal issue by putting cash into a kiosk at a store. If you get one of these calls, just hang up. You can double-check by calling the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office directly at (765) 342-1080 or dialing 911 Dispatch at (765) 342-5544.

Don’t let these scammers trick you into thinking you have to pay up to stay out of trouble. Always check with the actual authorities if you’re unsure about a call like this. Stay safe and keep your cash in your wallet where it belongs!
