Chesterton, Indiana – A woman tragically lost her life early Saturday morning in a single-vehicle accident.
According to the Porter County Sheriff’s Police (PCSP), the accident took place on Sturdy Road in Center Township. Responding to a 12:59 a.m. call, officers arrived at the scene near the intersection of Sturdy and Martinal Roads. They discovered a passenger vehicle in a ditch just north of Martinal Road. The vehicle, which had struck a tree, contained the sole occupant, a female driver, who was found deceased.
The preliminary findings of the PCSP indicate that the vehicle was traveling north on Sturdy Road before it abruptly veered off to the right, plunging into the ditch and colliding with the tree. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Porter County Coroner’s Office, pending the notification of next of kin.
