Innocent Bystander’s Life Cut Short Following Head-On Crash during Police Chase in Indiana

PORTER COUNTY, IN – A police chase on U.S. 12 in Porter County turned deadly when an innocent bystander was killed in a violent head-on collision. 

Indiana State Police reported Tuesday evening that during the Porter County Sheriff’s Department’s pursuit of a stolen 2022 Toyota Rav4, the suspect swerved into opposing traffic near S.R 49, striking an eastbound 2003 Pontiac Vibe.

The driver of the Pontiac, an unintended victim of the high-speed chase, succumbed to the injuries sustained in the crash. The suspect was apprehended at the scene and is facing charges, with the criminal investigation being led by local authorities.  The identity of the victim is pending notification of next of kin.
