DeMotte, IN – A late-night call to Jasper County Sheriff’s deputies led to an intense investigation and subsequent felony charge against a DeMotte man early on April 15th, 2024.

According to Jasper County records Initial reports from David Knestrict claimed his wife was allegedly responsible for discharging a firearm in their basement. However, conflicting testimony from Mrs. Knestrict pointed the finger back at her husband.

After both were detained outside their rural home near DeMotte, Indiana, evidence and further investigation corroborated Mrs. Knestrict’s account, revealing the discharge was reportedly accidental, but initiated by David Knestrict.

Knestrict was charged with Criminal Recklessness, a Level 5 Felony, and is currently held at Jasper County Detention Center.
