Fatal US 20 Crash: Woman Arrested in Texas, Extradited to Indiana on $20K Bond

La Porte County, IN – Lashea C. Bird, 40, was arrested in Texas and extradited to Indiana in connection with a fatal crash on US 20 that resulted in the death of Kendra L. Murphy.

On February 12, Bird’s vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree at US 20 and Wilhelm Road, killing Murphy, a passenger.

According to the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, Bird faces three counts of Operating While Intoxicated – Causing Death, each a Level 4 Felony.

Bird was apprehended on May 7 and is now being held on a $20,000 cash-only bond.
