Indiana State Police Investigate Inmate Death at Miami County Jail

Miami, IN – Detectives from the Indiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division at the Peru Post have launched a probe into the death of an inmate, David M. Douglass, 36, at the Miami County Jail.

The investigation was initiated at the request of the Miami County Sheriff’s Office. Miami County Coroner’s Office and sheriff’s officials are collaborating to ascertain the exact cause of death, with an autopsy currently pending.

Family members have been informed of the tragedy. This remains an active and ongoing investigation, with further details withheld at this time.
