Angola, Indiana – A Minnesota man was killed in a three-vehicle crash involving semi-tractors at the I-80/90 eastbound toll plaza in Steuben County, Indiana, near the state line with Ohio.

According to police reports the incident occurred on Tuesday morning and involved Edwin Lee Bottelman, 73, of Greeley, Iowa, and two other semi-truck drivers. Bottelman, operating a 2020 Freightliner, crashed into two other semis at the toll plaza without showing signs of braking. The collision resulted in fatal injuries for Bottelman and minor injuries for Ahmednoor Siyad, 35, of Minnesota. The other driver, Issayas Gilu, 38, from Texas, was unharmed.

The Indiana State Police, along with multiple local agencies, are investigating the crash, considering the possibility of a medical issue affecting Bottelman’s driving.
